"On Hold" means a book has been requested by a library patron.
If another patron already has the book checked out, that person will not be able to renew it. They must return it by the due date listed in the book.
The person who placed the "Hold" will then be able to check the book out.
Note: Books which are required reading for a particular class often have numerous holds placed on them. Persons on the "hold" list will be able to check out the book in the order their hold request was received.
