Compendex is the best overall database for Engineering topics. You can connect to it from any of the Engineering Subject Guides in the "Research Guides" group or from the "Databases" list on the library home page. Compendex indexes thousands of journals, conferences, proceedings, and technical reports. It has over 14 million records covering over 190 engineering disciplines.

Compendex uses "controlled vocabularies" to index articles. You can use any search term you want, but for best results, use a controlled term. To discover a controlled term, go to the Thesaurus (click search at the top and it's the third option). Enter your search term and press "Search Index." Terms in normal font are recommended, terms in italics are not. Click on the italicized term to find the controlled equivalent.
