Is the Library getting new individual study carrels?

A few months ago there were some prototypes of new study carrels displayed in the Library. What happened with that project?

Answer

In the summer 2014 the Library worked with teams of students in an Innovation Bootcamp to rethink the design of our study carrels.  Based on their input, the BYU Carpentry Shop came up with two design prototypes which were tested during early 2015.  The Carpentry Shop then used all the data collected (1000s of survey responses) and made changes for Round 2 of testing.

All the data from Round 2 has now been analyzed. We think we are finished with the testing phase and are ready to move into production. The two prototypes remain on Level 2 Central (ask for location at the Science Help Desk).

The first of the new carrels will be arriving in 2016. It will take several years to replace all of them. A few will be left-handed!

This has been a really fun project for us.
