Answer

Each patron is allowed two free film/fiche orders at a time by presenting their picture ID with their order - in person - at the BYU Library Family History/Religion Desk (Level 2).

Once two films/fiche have been ordered the patron must wait for those items to be copied and sent before they can order further materials.  These copied items are housed indefinitely in the Family History area.

The inventory can be  checked here: http://lib.byu.edu/cgi-bin/FHL/FamilyHistoryFilms.pl

Not all items are eligible for copying:
1. Any item already digitally available on the Family Search website will not be copied.

2. Film requiring special permission - or whose materials are from institutions the Salt Lake FHL has a specific non-copying agreement with - will not be provided.

3. The FHL reserves the right to deny a film order under these or other situations.

The BYU Family History Library does not notify patrons when items are available.
Our inventory can be checked using the link above.
The inventory is updated once the material has arrived.
